Two new bills related to child welfare have been proposed in the NY State Senate, sponsored by Senator Velmanette Montgomery (now retired). The passage of these bills would help to reduce some of the harm of the child welfare system in New York.

In our first weeks, we built our connection and relationships, centered our values, developed a community agreement, shared self-care strategies and established our “buddy system” of peer support.

Founded in 2005, Rise has an annual budget of $1.2 million, a staff of 12 and 9 part-time parent contributors. Rise is a partner project of the Fund for the City of New York, which provides financial management and human resources support.
