Rise Programs

Rise offers the following programs that build parent leadership and power to dismantle the family policing system and create communities that invest in families and offer collective care:

Rise & Shine Parent Leadership Program

Through this 18-week program, parents impacted by child welfare build a strong foundation to become advocates and leaders in their community. Learn more about the program by reading our Rise & Shine FAQs and 2022 program report and viewing our 2022 Rise & Shine graduation.

Community Organizing for our Parents’ Platform

Our parent-led organizing team advocates for investments that will improve community conditions, reduce family harm and build structures of support to hear directly from parents on their needs for family well being. Peer and Community Care Network

The peer team developed a Peer Supporters model that provides families with resources, information and peer to peer support circles for families to thrive without system involvement. Parent Advocate Training

Rise works to ensure that parents involved in the system right now have the support of a trained, life-experienced parent advocate. Rise trains parent advocates to provide parents with information and support with navigating the system, reunifying more quickly and then staying out of the system. Communications and Publications

Through our online magazine, publications, website, newsletter and social media platforms (@readrisemag), Rise shares stories by and for parents, provides information, raises awareness of the harms of the family policing system, highlights community-led solutions and offers ways to get involved. Additional Offerings

Community Training

Rise provides free online training opportunities for parents and community members on topics such as toxic stress, parents’ legal rights, systemic oppression, abolition and the history of the family policing system.

Parent Peer Support Circle

Our peer support circle is a space to connect with other parents with similar experiences and share resources and information. Through restorative justice circles processes, we discuss our experiences and challenges as parents and support one another. Our parent-led community support circle is now open to parents impacted by family policing systems in any location across the country.
