The road to abolishing the family policing system and creating a community-centered society requires addressing intersectional issues including, but not limited to, abolishing the prison industrial complex; empowering racial, reproductive and healing justice movements; centering survivors of domestic violence; and creating accessible, quality housing, education and child care for all.
Below, we offer examples of community-based organizations doing work that is crucial to building a society free of oppressive systems and practices. We created this list as part of our effort to share information and resources as we continue to dive deeper into learning together about abolition and community care. This list is not exhaustive and Rise will continue to develop it over time.
